My name is Warwick Doolan and art has been a great passion of mine from an early age. Not being the best scholar at school, art became my favorite lesson. It was something I looked forward to as I could hide away from the stress of school life. Being the rebel, in theory, my grades suffered as all I wanted to do was to concentrate on my own unique style. I was very much self-taught from the beginning.
Being a huge fan of sci-fi and fantasy art, I collected all the books I could lay my hands on. My very first purchase was a book titled “Lone Slone – Delirious” by Druillet. This was an adult science fiction adventure graphic novel. I marveled at the talent behind these creations and from then on I was determined to one day make a career from my own talent.
My art teacher in high school helped me hone my abilities at a young age. I spent all my spare time practicing and copying pages from my favorite comic books. Later, I discovered an artist by the name of Boris Vellejo and fell in love with his style of painting. The artists I admire to this day are Alex Ross, Julie Bell, Luis Royo, Rob Lefield, Jack Kirby and the one and only Stan Lee.
My platforms of choice are, of course, Photoshop and Manga Studio.
My future aspirations are to be employed as a freelance colorist/inker within the comic book industry.
