Anomalous Comics: Let’s start with the basics. Who are you and what do you do?
Zehe Abd Rahman: I am a Malaysian citizen of Terengganu. I am a 2D (Flash) animator most of the time and freelance artist, also most of thetime. I draw, ink and color, if anyone would hire me.
AC: What Projects have you done or been a part of?
ZAR: Comic-wise, nothing yet. Except pinup/fanart for a comic that’s published by a very well known local publisher. Animation-wise, I worked on Super Strikas, CJDJ, and a bunch of local animations. Last year, 2013, I got the opportunity to work on Transformers : Rescue Bots season 2 as one of the concept artists.
AC: Was there a major event that led to your decision to draw comics?
ZAR: I have always been in love with comics. Fascinated by them. I guess it’s only fair and logical if I’m involved in making one.
AC: Who are your influences?
ZAR: My influences, there’re too many to list. If I am to name one, I would honestly answer, Mah Wing Sing. Just because I spent a lot of time with his stuff when I was younger.
AC: What would you be doing now if you weren’t making comics?
ZAR: If I weren’t making anything art in general, I think I’d be a Medical Assistant or a technician, having a two hour breakfast everyday after punching in the clock.
AC: What advice can you give to aspiring creators?
ZAR: I’m an aspiring creator. I’m the one needing advice.
AC: What’s your favorite quote?
ZAR: “You nuh huhyum?” (*You know who I am?) –Arseface.
AC: What’s your favorite comic series or OGN? What are you reading now?
ZAR: Nothing specific, but mostly I like anything by Ennis, Ellis and Moore. Not exactly now, but last I read were a few issues of Chew a couple of months back.
AC: What are your dream projects? Just in case someone who can make that happen is reading this.
ZAR: Dream projects? Definitely one of my own, if I could find the funding and the time. If you mean established characters, then I guess it could be anything you want me to. As long as I get paid. lol
AC: What are you most looking forward to this year?
ZAR: I dont want to jinx it. The thing I look forward to this year, that is.
AC: Where can we find you?
AC: Anything else you’d like to add?
ZAR: Proud and excited to be involved with Anomalous Studios and most importantly, I really appreciate the friendship. Just wish that I could contribute more in the future. One more thing: “Anomalies Assemble!” Yay!
